Mr. Chitumwa
On Friday Last week, we met Mr. Chitumwa for the first time during our survey in Luansobe market. He is 26 years old. He is a member of a Union Baptist Church. He spoke very good English and he is a Lamba by tribe. He lives in Ndola rural area with his family.
I (Grace) was a bit nervous when we arrived at the market. It was the only market opened on Fridays on the Ndola to Kapiri-Mposhi road. We had a survey work in Solwezi area near some shops, but it was the first time we plan to do the work in the market. I really didn’t know how people would respond to our approach. Daniel parked our vehicle at the end toward market which was actually the entrance of the market where people could see us and come and talked to us if they wanted to. While we walked around to see what’s where and things, we met the market chairman who controls the whole market. When he heard about what we were going to do, he generously allowed us to stay where we had parked the vehicle.
Once Daniel had set up our table and some chairs, he placed some books and tracks on the table. Then people gathered around us to see what we had. And from that moment, we were busy talking to people, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ, and even some counseling.
The first person I had a chance to talked to was Mr. Chitumwa. I noticed that he is one of the strong Christians right away. I gave him some study materials for him to take home, and had a chance to get to know him a little better. He was genuinely happy to talk to us and spending time with us. He would go and a little bit later, he would come back with friends, and he did this many times.
Through this survey work, we wanted to find out if there was any place that is in need of our Baptist church. What we found is that there are many strong Baptist churches, even though they are not Fellowship Baptist churches. We now know that we don’t have to be burdened with that area. But from this survey, we met many wonderful people, and one of them is Mr. Chitumwa. Hopefully we will continue to work with him, pray for him, and support him in spiritual growth.

This is wonderful work. I pray that God guides and protects you and above all gives you that grace you need in your work.
